Beaches

Nantucket is ringed with 82 miles of the most beautiful beaches to be found anywhere in the world. There are ocean beaches, with good surfing, and beaches along Nantucket Sound and in Nantucket Harbor, which provide calmer waters. Even in the busy summer months, there are beaches with few people on them, providing a perfect oasis for beaching, swimming, and just getting away from it all.

Steps Beach

Off of Lincoln Avenue.

Long stairway leads to this warm, calm water beach. No lifeguards, no restrooms, and very little parking.

Fisherman's Beach

Off of Nonantum. (In between Surfside and Nobadeer Beaches.)
Steep steps lead down to this beach. Plenty of surf, strong undertow, no parking, lifeguards or facilities.

Sconset Beach, located on the most eastern edge of Nantucket Island is where the sun rises first. The main beach is located in Cod Fish Park which is a moment’s stroll from the village and offers limited parking and life guard protection. The waters tend to be deep so families with young children tend to to go to near by Sesachacha Pond but for long beach walks and incredible vistas Sconset Beach is an amazing destination.

Great Point

End of Wauwinet Road - follow signs.
To make the most of this adventure - you will need to purchase a Great Point sticker at the gatehouse and have a 4WD vehicle. A one day pass or for the season.  Great Point is known for fishing and of course, Great Point Lighthouse. Relax and enjoy one of our remote beaches. No lifeguards, restrooms available in the Lighthouse from Memorial Day thru Columbus Day. Dogs allowed off-season but must be leashed at all times.
