Your Nantucket Weekend Itinerary

Memorial Day Weekend is the “unofficial” kickoff of Summer. Although this season’s celebrations will look a little different from years past, we’re still planning on indulging in some of our favorite Nantucket activities.

Plan a Picnic At The Beach: Pick your favorite stretch of sand and set up for a beach picnic complete with a Nantucket Clambake and your favorite beverages. Make your planning even more effortless with The SeaGrille, who is offering clambake dinners to-go. Pair it with Épernay’s selection of wines and liquors to mix the perfect beach drinks. For more curbside pick-up and take-out options, check our Your Nantucket Guide

Get Outside: One of the benefits of this downtime has been the ability to explore the Island’s miles of conservation land. Enjoy a day hiking or biking some of the beautiful trails during the long weekend. Visit the Nantucket Conservation page for a full list of trails to explore.

Get on the Water: In honor of what would have been the 48th Annual Figawi boat race, go for a harbor cruise or dust off your kayak or paddleboard for an afternoon on the water. With all signs pointing to warmer weather and sunshine, it’s an excellent excuse to take in the salt air and view Nantucket from a new vantage point.

Host a Backyard Barbecue: Enjoy the comfort of home with an old fashioned barbecue, fire up the grill, mix up your favorite salads and sides, and spend time with the family. Get creative with these outdoor game ideas. For dessert, roast up some marshmallows for S’mores.

Explore Nantucket: From Sankaty Light to Smith’s Point, there are countless fascinating places to discover. Take a stroll along the bluff walk and admire some of Nantucket’s architecture. On your way out of Sconset head out to Altar Rock, the highest point on Nantucket, with neverending views. Stroll around Town and take in the history, most homes on Main Street date back to the 1800s, and some once belonged to famed Whaling captains. Once you make your way out to Madaket, catch the seals sunbathing at the each and walk around Old Madaket. With Millie’s now open for the season, stop by for take-out!
