EDWARD SANFORD

EDWARD SANFORD

Edward's grandparents came to Nantucket in the 1920's, establishing a summering tradition for both his mother's and father's families. He broke tradition by moving to the island year round in the early 1970's. In the late 1970's, he started the Sanford Boat Company with his brother and produced 22 Alerion Class Sloops, many of which still sail Nantucket's waters. Edward's real estate career has spanned all facets of the industry. He learned carpentry, owned and managed commercial real estate and the beautiful cottages on Old North Wharf. After receiving a Graduate Degree in Business Administration from Columbia University, he received his real estate license in 1986. He worked for Island Properties, along with Greg McKechnie, until 2003 when he opened Sanford Real Estate. In 2008, he merged Sanford Real Estate with Great Point Properties. Edward has also been involved in a number of island non-profits including the Nantucket Conservation Foundation, the Boys and Girls Club of Nantucket, and the Nantucket Island Chamber of Commerce. He has served on the Nantucket Zoning Board of Appeals, served as Chairman of the Nantucket Community Plan Steering Committee, and also Chaired the Mid-Island Area Plan Work Group. He loves to sail and play golf, and is a connoisseur of fine rums, a taste acquired from sailing through the Caribbean islands.

Bill moved to the island with his family full time in the late 70's. After graduating from Boston College, he returned to Nantucket. He has been selling real estate here since 1992. Bill took a brief sabbatical from Nantucket real estate sales in 2000 for two years, to work for a venture capitalist in New York City as his real estate project manager, overseeing the renovation and construction of homes in Haverford, Pennsylvania; Southampton, New York and luxury apartments in New York City. He is presently the president of the Board of Directors of the Nantucket New School and Strong Wings Adventure Camp as well as serving as a board member /building committee member of the Nantucket Dreamland Foundation. He also enjoys running/triathlons and he is a fair weather fisherman. Bill and his wife, Amanda, have two young children, Louisa and Sam and an English Bulldog, Winnie. Bill brings with him knowledge and expertise in Nantucket real estate sales and vacation rentals.

Greg grew up in Malvern, Pennsylvania where he attended the Haverford School before attending Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut. A long-time summer resident, Greg moved to Nantucket full time thirteen years ago. In addition to his strong experience with Nantucket real estate sales, Greg is actively involved in the community. He presently is serving as Past- President of the Board Directors for the Nantucket Boys and Girls Club. When he is not working with customers he enjoys spending time with his wife, Courtney, a personal trainer and Pilates instructor who operates a successful business out of the gym they built on their property as well as runs a Pilates and retail shop called Core next door to Greg's office. Greg and Courtney welcomed their first child, Lyla Gray Mckechnie, into the world on December 2, 2008 and their baby boy Beau Jameson Mckechnie joined the family November 2, 2011. Greg enjoys early morning runs with his Black Labrador Retriever, Kaya in Sanford Farm. He also enjoys any water-based activity, be it surfing, kayaking, or fishing.

Debbi, a native to Nantucket has 20 years of real estate experience on Nantucket. Debbi went to school off island where she focused her studies on architecture and took advantage of the time to travel abroad extensively. She spent 17 years in the ski industry, including developing and owning two stores in the Utah ski resorts along with designing and representing high end ski wear and goods. Each summer, Debbi would return to the island for an extended summer and moved back permanently in 1998. Having a keen sense for sales and an eye for design, she went directly into real estate as it felt like "a natural fit". She gets great satisfaction from combining her knowledge of architecture and extensive knowledge of the Island to help each client find their perfect home on Nantucket. Debbi and her husband, Peter, enjoy a number of summer and winter activities, including boating, skiing, horseback riding, and motorcycling. They share their home with three beagles, one lab/border collie mix, a wayward cat, a horse and two ponies.

Tracy Cullinane hails from St. Louis, Missouri. Prior to moving to Nantucket 2002, she spent eight years in Washington DC working in the political arena first in the Senate on Capitol Hill and then on public affairs, lobbying, and fundraising in the private sector. Tracy started her career in Nantucket Real Estate in the spring of 2002 using the people skills that she honed while working in Washington DC to provide exceptional service to her vacation rentals and sales clients. Aside from working with clients and customers, she enjoys being active and is up for just about anything, whether it's working out, running in the moors, playing hockey, surfing, walking her two dachshunds or riding her motorcycle.

A graduate of the University of Vermont, Liz began her real estate career in 1994 when she first moved to Nantucket. She has over a decade of real estate experience on Nantucket in both real estate sales and rentals. She and her husband John are the proud parents of three "Nantucket natives", Patrick, Matthew, and Ella. Elizabeth has been actively involved in the community including serving on the Small Friends Board for over 6 years with two years as President, currently co-chairs the Special Needs Advisory Council and served on the Professional Standards Committee for Nantucket Association of Real Estate Brokers for the past 3 years. Liz brings with her a wonderful sense of humor and a level of attentiveness to her client's needs that make her a pleasure to work with.

Laura grew up in Essex Junction, Vermont, and was first introduced to Nantucket while attending the University of Vermont. Upon graduation, Laura moved to Nantucket permanently and taught science for three years at the Nantucket New School. After her teaching stint, Laura worked for two and a half years for the historic Jared Coffin House as their Director of Sales, where she was responsible for orchestrating their business and social events. Many of you may have known her as Jared Coffin's first class wedding planner. Laura has been with the Great Point Properties for over seven years now and serves as a sales and rental broker. When Laura is not working, she enjoys Pilates, spinning, yoga and stand-up paddle boarding in Nantucket Harbor.

Cam grew up in New Canaan, CT and has been a long-time Nantucket resident. After graduating from St. George's and Colby College he worked for several years for Vineyard Vines, most recently as the director of Retail Sales. In addition to working in Real Estate, Capt. Cam has been running fishing charters on Nantucket for more than a decade. Five years ago he combined his connection with the fishing community and his sales background and purchased Bill Fisher Tackle with a few partners. Cam is also a hockey coach for Nantucket youth hockey, on the board of many charitable fishing tournaments and involved with the Nantucket Conservation Foundation. When he isn't in the office, at the rink or on a boat, you can find Cam with his wife of five years Julie Milligan Gammill and their dog Bass. Julie and Cam met on Nantucket almost ten years ago and are the proud new parents of daughter, Neely.

Dawn was raised on Nantucket and has been back on Island full time since 2000. Dawn graduated from UMASS, Amherst with a degree in Economics and became a licensed real estate broker in 1998. In 1999, she lived in New Jersey and worked for Coldwell Banker Real Estate. Dawn has extensive knowledge in Historic District requirements and in local planning having worked for both the Historic District Commission and the Planning Board office. In 2004 she began working at Sanford Real Estate. Dawn married Michael Holdgate, a native Nantucketer and local business owner, in September of 2004. They are now proud parents of Kenneth Chase Holdgate and Elissa Holdgate. Dawn is also serving her second term as a Commissioner of the Historic District Commission, and is Co-Chairman of the Nantucket Association of Real Estate Brokers Education Committee.

Barbara has been a year round resident of Nantucket for twenty years. Her professional experience includes twenty‐five years of real estate sales and vacation rentals, in the Boston and Nantucket markets. Prior to her real estate career, Barbara was involved in fashion retail management and graduated from Northeastern University in medical laboratory medicine. This unique combination of creative and analytical skills allows Barbara to address the needs and interests of Nantucket buyers, sellers, and vacation renters. Barbara enjoys memberships in multiple Island organizations, is an avid organic gardener and naturalist, and also enjoys ocean swimming, sailing, cooking, birding, reading, and travel.

Nina’s family first came to the island in the late 1800’s. For generations, her family has enjoyed both summer and year-round living. After graduating from Sarah Lawrence College, Nina settled on the island year round where she had a variety of jobs including teaching and restaurant management. Nina’s real estate career began in 1998 when her family was marketing a land development known as the Maxcy Pond subdivision. She lives on the island with her husband, Matt who teaches science and math at the Nantucket New School and are the proud parents of their daughter, Maggie and their golden retriever, Harry. In addition to selling real estate, Nina has a small interior design business. Her extensive knowledge of the Nantucket real estate market and her passion and flair for design compliment each other nicely. Nina is known to her clients to be thorough and sincere and when she is not working enjoys being with family, reading and exercising.

Carl, a true island native, was born and raised on Nantucket Island. As a proud, new father of his daughter Lilly and son Hutton, Carl enjoys many of the activities that the island has to offer including, fishing, surfing, boating, fine dining, beach cookouts and watching sunsets. After attending school at Northfield Mount Hermon and college at the University of Colorado at Boulder, Carl returned to the island where he served as one of the island's premier bartenders specializing in fine dining and formal customer service. Carl frequently travels to the Turks and Caicos Islands to visit his mother Lucy Eaton, whom was in real estate on Nantucket for 20 years. Growing up around real estate, Carl is very excited to continue the family business with Great Point Properties.

Prior to joining Great Point Properties, Nichole worked in real estate in another on island firm and also ran NALU, a retail store she owns with her husband, Jason Olbres here on Nantucket and in Carmel, California. Nichole was born on Nantucket and attended the Nantucket Public Schools before going off to the Berkshire School. She then went on to Hobart William Smith were she studied Environmental Science and played soccer on their nationally ranked team. Nichole brings to Great Point Properties her knowledge of the building trades from serving as general contractor for the construction of their home on Wigwam Road. They have since sold that home and are currently overseeing the renovation of their home on Longwood Drive. Nichole also has a solid understanding of sales having established two successful retail stores.

Sam Parsons was born and educated in Harare, Zimbabwe. After College, she was offered a much sought-after opportunity to work in the Travel Industry where she obtained her travel diploma enabling her to sell local, regional and international travel to both business and pleasure seekers. Sam then moved to South Africa to pursue her career in travel where she was not only able to extend her horizons as she traveled the world extensively with her work, but most importantly she built up a data base of satisfied clients that she assisted during this time. With a passion for traveling, Sam moved to London, where she worked and traveled worldwide for two years. Sam arrived on Nantucket for ‘the summer' in 1995, and as many people do immediately fell in love with the Island, and has lived here year round since 1997. Two years after arriving on Nantucket, she met her husband, Rob Morgenstern. 
After 8 years working at the Nantucket Boat Basin and Nantucket Island Resorts, Sam most recently worked for 3 years as the Director of Membership Services at The Westmoor Club. Her goal during this time, among many other responsibilities, was to ensure the excellence of members' services and to exceed both members and guests expectations, something which she is proud to acknowledge as having achieved, and something that she enjoys doing at Great Point Properties.

Phil, a native Midwesterner, first came to the Island of Nantucket for a winter visit back in the 70's and was immediately attracted to the island's charm and tight social network. His visit lasted a bit longer than expected with him staying year round using his in-depth knowledge of wines while working as Sommellier at Straight Wharf Restaurant until 1988. Looking for a change of scenery, Phil decided to move to Washington DC, where he worked for two years as manager and Sommellier of DC's own 21 Federal. In 1990, Phil decided to bring his managerial and people skills into the real estate world establishing Bennett-Witte Real Estate serving the DC, Maryland and Virginia areas. He enjoyed great success with his company until the draw of Nantucket called him back home. In 1997, he returned to the island and happily resides with his wife, Susan, and their dog, Ozzie. When he is not working he enjoys cooking and has been known to take part in the occasional round of golf with friends.

Amanda relocated to Nantucket in 2001 from Burlington, Vermont. Prior to joining Great Point Properties as the office manager, Amanda was a career, personal executive assistant, working with the chairman of an East Coast restaurant chain for eight years and then with a venture capitalist in New York City for two years. With her specialized experience, Amanda pays great attention to detail and enjoys offering personal service to our clients. Amanda currently does the bookkeeping for the office and works in conjunction with our office manager to ensure all aspects of our office are running smoothly. Amanda and her husband, Bill Liddle, have two children, Louisa and Sam.

Stuart spent his childhood summers in 'Sconset and has been living full time on Nantucket for 22 years. He attended the University of New Orleans and then went on to refine his culinary skills in Europe. Stuart brought his fine epicurean skills to Nantucket as a founding partner and head Chef of American Seasons Restaurant. Fifteen years ago, Stuart left the kitchen and brought his diligence and skill to Nantucket real estate sales. He is an avid surfer and fisherman and is always eager to play a game of tennis. Stuart and his wife, Nina, enjoy vacationing in Palm Beach, Florida in the winter. They share their time and home with their Wheaton Terrier, Mickey and Maltipoo, Walt.

Amy spent many of her childhood summers in Nantucket and knew from a very early age that the island was something incredibly special to her. Prior to moving to Nantucket as a year-round resident, Amy was brought up and educated in South Dakota. While attending the University of South Dakota, Amy gained much experience in public relations and marketing, and also had the opportunity to dance with their nationally competitive dance team. While pursuing her degree, she has worked as a special events coordinator, a campaign manager for a S.D. state senate candidate and has worked in fashion retail-most recently at Vis-à-vis of Nantucket. Amy’s various jobs have all emphasized the importance of client satisfaction and exceptional customer service. When Amy is not working, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, along with living an active lifestyle that includes teaching aerobics, dancing and running.

Henry is a life-time resident and native to Nantucket Island.  Having spent more than 26 years on Nantucket (including 20 winters), Henry is proud to call the island his home.  He has held several jobs on island, including restaurant manager, surveyor, and owner of a private concierge service.  After graduating Nantucket High School, Henry attended College of Charleston in South Carolina where he studied politics, law, and environmental studies.  Henry put his studies to practice while working as an aide to the late Senator Ted Kennedy for two years after college.  Since moving back to Nantucket full time, Henry is very happy to have reconnected with his roots and is living a simpler life on island time.  An avid traveler, Henry takes every opportunity to explore new places during his time off.  He has visited over 20 countries on 6 continents and has no plans of stopping anytime soon.  His last jaunts include backpacking through Europe, hiking Kauai’s NaPali Coast, and sailing through the Caribbean’s Leeward Islands.  Henry’s interaction with different cultures and a wide range of people has given him a invaluable perspective and continually reinforces his belief that Nantucket is one of the most beautiful, unique places on Earth.

After graduating from Bowling Green State University with a degree in Business, Laura made her way to the East Coast. A chance meeting in Boston turned into her first job...that job was mobile marketing for Nantucket Nectars. For about a year, Laura traveled up and down the East and West Coast promoting the ”Juice Guys”, then landed on Straight Wharf managing the Allserve General Store in 1998. That summer she fell in love with the island, the ocean and a sailor. For five summers Laura worked in a “floating office” on the water with Nantucket Moorings and spent winters with Anderson Publishing working on the Nantucket Guide, the Phone Book and Home & Garden Magazine. In 2003, Laura headed back to Straight Wharf to oversee the operations for Hy-Line Cruises. Her favorite activities include exploring the island’s beautiful natural surroundings with her dogs, Hanley and Dash and spending time on the water with her husband, Vin and children, Madeline and Gordon. She truly enjoys meeting people and sharing her knowledge of the island in hopes that others can experience what makes Nantucket so special.
