Leading to the entrance of Great Point, Wauwinet is home to the iconic and luxurious Wauwinet Inn, an upscale hotel with fine dining and spa services. Recently renovated, The Wauwinet is an important Nantucket landmark hotel for White Elephant Resorts, a unique collection of hotels and resorts on beautiful Nantucket Island and in Palm Beach, Florida.

If you find yourself exploring Wauwinet, don't miss out on The Wauwinet hotel's Topper's Restaurant. Toppers is one of Nantucket's most acclaimed restaurants serving a variety of New England-inspired dishes including oysters harvested less than 300 yards from the restaurant.

The homes in Wauwinet range from elegant and private estates to charming beach cottages. Most homes are set on abundant land, boasting privacy and seclusion. We have an extensive Wauwinet vacation rental inventory should you wish to explore this unique part of Nantucket.

Wauwinet Beaches

Known for its access to Great Point and Coatue, Wauwinet is the perfect escape for a secluded beach day of fishing and picnics. Great Point is a large, undeveloped barrier beach at the tip of Nantucket, and houses the iconic Great Point Lighthouse. It is seven miles long, is popular with fishermen, and is one of the best places to see grey seals. Great Point is privately owned by the Trustees of Reservations and you must obtain a permit to drive on.

Tip: Great Point is not recommended for swimmers, as it is home to fish, seals, and often sharks. We recommend a day of fishing, relaxing, beach games, and picnicking if you decide to visit!
