Mid-Island

Explore Mid-Island Nantucket!

Equidistant from Town and Surfside, Mid-Island is centrally located and provides easy access to any area of Nantucket. A hub for shopping, dining, and other amenities, Mid-Island is an extremely convenient area to stay! This spot is a quick bike ride or NRTA Wave shuttle from Town.

Mid-Island Attractions

Outside of Town, Mid-Island is a one-stop shop for errands, groceries, and dining. Home to Stop & Shop, the island's largest grocery store, Mid-Island is always bustling, especially in the summer. Mid-Island also boasts an array of restaurants. For grab & go, get a sandwich from Henry Jr.'s, breakfast and pastries from Wicked Island Bakery, or a deep dish pizza from Foggy Nantucket. For a sit-down meal, we recommend brunch at Island Kitchen (or any meal, really!), seafood dinner at the Sea Grille, or Italian from Fusaro's. Before leaving Mid-Island, you have to check out The Chicken Box, an iconic late-night spot with live music.

Mid-Island is also the hub for most healthcare and emergency services. Nantucket Cottage Hospital, Urgent Care, Dan's Pharmacy, and Island Pharmacy are all conveniently located

Mid-Island Activities

While this landlocked part of Nantucket doesn't offer any beaches, there are plenty of parks and trails to explore. Right off the Milestone Rotary is the Land Bank's Creeks Preserve Park, which overlooks the Creeks salt marsh, Nantucket Harbor, and Brant Point Lighthouse. This 8-acre property showcases Nantucket’s unique and notable coastal ecology and is great for a midday dog walk or picnic. The Land Bank also recently opened Nantucket's first dog park at the intersection of Miacomet and Surfside Road. There are two enclosed areas for your four-legged friends to run and play, surrounded by a beautiful pitch pine forest. You can also explore the miles of protected bike paths that begin Mid-Island. Our favorite is the Surfside bike path which takes you straight to the beach entrance!
