Moments from Nantucket's calm north shore Step's Beach, and a few minutes from historic downtown, 12.5 Sherburne Turnpike is a fantastic home and cottage nestled privately off Cliff Road. The main house of this property offers five bedrooms. The cottage offers an additional bedroom and bath, with built-in work station. Between the two homes are great shared family areas (patio and porch) and a large yard, ideal for summer gatherings.
First Floor
Enter into the light-filled great room with a beamed vaulted ceiling, a fireplace, and ample seating for friends and family. French doors line the west wall of the living area and access the wrap-around partially covered porch and deck. This space flows into the open-concept dining area, with seating for eight at the dining table. The kitchen features top-of-the-line appliances, including an eight-burner Thermador stove with a grill, and 3 stools at the counter for added seating. Located off the kitchen is the mud room, which provides easy access to the guest cottage. Opposite this area is the entertainment room, with a large sectional couch - ideal for movie nights - and an ensuite full bath. A powder room is conveniently accessed near this area.
Second Floor
On the second floor is a landing area with a tucked-away laundry room and separate linen closet. Off this space is the primary bedroom with a king bed and an ensuite bath with glass-enclosed tile shower. Down the hall are two more bedrooms, one with two twin beds and the second with a king bed. These two rooms share a hallway bath with a glass-enclosed stub/shower.
Third Floor
The third floor has two bedrooms. The south-facing room has a king bed and the north-facing room has two twin beds. The two rooms can be opened up for a shared space or one can close the double doors to create two private rooms. At the end of the hall is a bathroom with a shower, which the two bedrooms share.
Cottage
From the parking area with room for 3-4 cars, enter into the cottage, offering an open floor plan with a living area with gas fireplace and full kitchen with breakfast bar and 2 stools. A pantry and powder room are both located off the kitchen, as well as the back door, which allows for quick access to the main house, just steps away. Stairs from the living area lead to the second floor with an open landing area with a built-in desk (a perfect work-from-home office.) A stack Washer/Dryer is located behind a door on this landing. A full bath with glass-enclosed tub/shower and a spacious bedroom with a king bed are open to the desk area / stair landing. The outdoor area for the cottage features a slate patio with ample entertaining and lounging space and sliding doors that lead back into the cottage's small dining area.
Outdoor Area
A lovely slate patio with gas grill is located off the cottage, with close proximity to the main house. The main house living room offers French doors to the wrap-around porch and deck, overlooking a lovely green lawn. The outdoor shower sits conveniently between the main house and cottage - great for a rinse when home from the beach.
