Edward's grandparents came to Nantucket in the 1920's, establishing a summering tradition for both his mother's and father's families. He broke tradition by moving to the island year round in the early 1970's. In the late 1970's, he started the Sanford Boat Company with his brother and produced 22 Alerion Class Sloops, many of which still sail Nantucket's waters. Edward's real estate career has spanned all facets of the industry. He learned carpentry, owned and managed commercial real estate and the beautiful cottages on Old North Wharf. After receiving a Graduate Degree in Business Administration from Columbia University, he received his real estate license in 1986. He worked for Island Properties, along with Greg McKechnie, until 2003 when he opened Sanford Real Estate. In 2008, he merged Sanford Real Estate with Great Point Properties. Edward has also been involved in a number of island non-profits including the Nantucket Conservation Foundation, the Boys and Girls Club of Nantucket, and the Nantucket Island Chamber of Commerce. He has served on the Nantucket Zoning Board of Appeals, served as Chairman of the Nantucket Community Plan Steering Committee, and also Chaired the Mid-Island Area Plan Work Group. He loves to sail and play golf, and is a connoisseur of fine rums, a taste acquired from sailing through the Caribbean islands.

Sam Parsons was born, raised, and educated in Harare, Zimbabwe, and still considers herself an African at heart. After college, she was offered a much sought-after opportunity to work in the travel industry. She obtained her diploma, enabling her to sell local, regional, and international travel to both business and pleasure seekers. After that, Sam moved to South Africa to further her career, and she was able to travel the world extensively with her job. Sam then moved to London for two years, where she worked and continued to travel worldwide, visiting Europe, South East Asia, Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand, the United States, and Canada.

In 1995, Sam arrived on Nantucket for “the summer” and immediately fell in love with the island. Two years after arriving, she met her husband and made Nantucket her home. Professionally, she worked for eight years at the Nantucket Boat Basin and Nantucket Island Resorts, and for over three years as the Director of Membership Services at the exclusive Westmoor Club. In 2008, Sam joined Great Point Properties, bringing with her multiple years of experience working in the hospitality industry, and a database of satisfied clientele that she met along the way. Sam’s exceptional attention to detail and her knowledge and love of the island makes her the perfect choice for buyers, sellers, and renters alike.

When she isn’t in the office, Sam enjoys walking, practicing yoga, traveling the world and exploring different cultures, reading, cooking, going to the beach, and especially spending time with family and friends.  She has been on the committee for Palliative and Supportive Care of Nantucket (Hospice) for the past ten years and has been a tutor for the ESL program at the Nantucket Athenium since 2008. Sam considers herself the luckiest person in the world to have landed on Nantucket over 20 years ago and gets to call this fantastic island home.
