A Grey Lady Day

A Grey Lady Day

09/29/2023

Nantucket is nicknamed the Grey Lady for a reason. If you get caught in some rainy weather during your stay, don’t worry! We have you covered rain or shine. When it’s not a day for the beach or being out on the water, heading into town for some food, drinks, and shopping is a great way to go. The rain won’t stop you from having a fun day on Nantucket! We’ve included a few extra items to add to your rainy day list.

  • Whaling Museum

A cloudy day is the perfect opportunity to take some time to dive into the rich Whaling history of the island. Spend an hour or two exploring and learning at the Whaling Museum. It’s also a great family activity with a kid room in the back for some arts and crafts! To find out more please visit their website.

  • Movie at the Dreamland

It’s hard to miss the buttery popcorn smell as you walk past the Dreamland doors. It doesn’t get better than a rainy day and an afternoon at the movies. For showings and tickets, please visit their website.

  • The Rose and Crown

Feeling hungry after all the shopping? Stroll by the Rose and Crown for the perfect rainy day seafood and pub grub.

  • The Brotherhood of Thieves

Next on our list for food and drinks is the Brotherhood. Sit downstairs in the cozy ambiance with a burger and curly fries or head upstairs for a beachy vibe at the Cisco Kitchen & Bar where there is a great sushi menu.

  • Millie’s

There’s more to Millie’s than just a great sunset! We personally love heading out to Madaket on a rainy day and sitting upstairs to watch the storm roll in and out. When you’re eating off the Millie’s menu does the weather even matter?

  • Nantucket Atheneum

One of the most historic buildings in town, the library is a great place to spend some time winding down as the rain passes. Enjoy the expansive book selection and a quiet place to get some work done. For more information, please visit their website.

  • Cisco Brewery

The Cisco Brewery is fun with or without rain! Bring your rain jacket, grab a beer, and enjoy the live music under their covered tents.

  • Miacomet Golf Simulator

If you had to skip your time on the green due to the weather, you’re still in luck. Head to Miacomet Golf Club for lunch and check out the golf simulator set up downstairs! A great way to spend the afternoon when you can’t be on the course.

  • Nantucket Bookworks

Pop into Bookworks and peruse their updated selection of new and classic books. Pick out a puzzle to take home - a great activity for everyone!

  • The Green Market

Head to The Green Market on India St and sit inside for a warm coffee and quick lunch. Before you leave, look around their local produce and thoughtfully selected goods ranging from skincare to home goods.
