Finding Fresh Flavor at Nantucket's Specialty Markets
02/25/2026
One of the highlights of island life is easy access to specialty grocery stores and fresh seafood markets, where locally sourced ingredients and gourmet foods are in abundance. While Nantucket does have your standard grocery stores like Stop & Shop, the smaller and more niche places offer a variety of products that are perfect for homeowners looking to cook at home, or perhaps those looking to entertain friends and family. This post takes a closer look at these speciality places and what they have to offer.
Specialty Grocers
Bartlett’s Farm
Perhaps one of the island’s most popular (and largest) specialty grocery stores, Bartlett’s Farm is a family-owned farm and market that blends agricultural heritage with modern farm-to-table appeal. The market sells fresh produce, including iconic island sweet corn and tomatoes, as well as prepared foods, with a full deli counter serving up a variety of sides, sandwiches, lobster rolls, and desserts. In addition to the market, Bartlett’s Farm also has a large greenhouse containing a variety of plants, flowers, and gardening supplies.
Nantucket Meat & Fish Market
Centrally located on Old South Rd., Nantucket Meat & Fish Market is known for its full-service café, along with a wide selection of prepared foods, seafood, and prime meats. At the café, there’s a variety of breakfast sandwiches and bagels, as well as savory sandwiches and wraps for lunch (click here to see the sandwich menu at the bottom of the page). And that’s not to mention the long list of freshly brewed coffees and teas available to keep you going throughout the day. The café sits next to a sushi counter that prepares freshly made sushi all day long. Over at the deli, there are savory sides to go with your meals, along with pre-marinated cuts of meats and fish. If you’re looking to restock your fridge with the best products, a stop at the Meat & Fish Market is a must!
Pip & Anchor
Just seconds away from Nantucket Meat and Fish Market is a boutique grocer by the name of Pip & Anchor. Here, you’ll find coffee and baked goods (espresso, house-made pastries, and a selection of sandwiches), produce and herbs, artisanal pantry goods (specialty condiments, fermented foods, etc.) and even a thoughtful beer and wine selection. Pip and Anchor places a special focus on local culture, emphasizing the need to support the island’s food economy and sustainable practices.
Sconset Market
The Sconset Market contributes to the authentic coastal village feel of ‘Sconset. Having a well-stocked market in the neighborhood makes daily life easier - whether you’re grabbing coffee and muffins after a beach walk, picking up produce for a summer dinner, or simply stocking your kitchen, the market saves you the hassle of having to leave Sconset every time you need something. In the summer, there’s also an old fashioned ice-cream counter at the market, which is popular among both locals and tourists. To learn more about the offerings at The Sconset Market, click here.
The Sustainable Nantucket Farm Stand
Offering freshly harvested produce, flowers and honey throughout the season, the Sustainable Nantucket Farm Stand is composed of goods from Washashore Farm, Fogtown Farm, Eat Fire Farm, TT’s Hobbies, and In Situ Native Plants. This roadside stand opened in October 2020, and has since become a trusted hub for fresh island-grown produce, available 24/7 under the honor system. To read more about the farm stand, click here.
Roastd
While best known for its selection of craft beverages like cold brew blends, whipped coffees, and specialty lattes, Roastd also operates as a general store and wellness marketplace, offering carefully selected pantry items, prepared foods, organic snacks, and artisan products. Roastd now has multiple locations on the island - to browse their breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus, click here and look for the “menus” tab on the top of the screen.
