Nantucket Wine Festival

An island favorite and a sure sign of the summer season, Nantucket Wine Festival (NWF) is back this weekend, with events running from May 16 - May 19.

NWF now draws over 3000 attendees to the island for this annual spring fête and boasts a continually growing family of vintners, wineries, renowned chefs and restaurants.

Today, the NWF marks the awakening of the island when restaurants, galleries, activities and tours open for the season. The Grey Lady, our nickname for the island, is known as a culinary destination. The NWF Luminaries are honored to visit, many return and every year new talent arrives to partake. Still, the Nantucket Wine & Food Festival remains boutique in style and intimate in its setting, true to its original roots.

To celebrate, here are a couple of agent-favorite spots for wine on the island:

Broker Amber Cantella: "For me, wine is about place. Not just about the terroir where it came from, but the memories associated with it. Every time I have a Champagne from Épernay, I think about our Honeymoon. I am extremely fortunate to have tasted the best vintages of the greatest wines in the world. Yet, what I remember most is the experience that I shared with others. Two of my favorite memory-filled locations to drink wine on the island are Le Languedoc and Galley Beach.

Agent Cary Turner: "My favorite restaurant for good wine is The Sea Grille- they serve Trimbach Pinot Gris Reserve by the glass, and by the bottle. For those who are tired of Chardonnay but love a full-bodied white wine, this is the one! It is from Alcase in France and it is richer and smoother than an Italian Pinot Grigio, though it's the same varietal. This wine goes perfectly with their delicious food, most favorites are their lobster bisque in puff pastry, or even a dozen fresh oysters - YUM!"
