07/17/2024
1. Ride The WAVE
The Nantucket Regional Transit Authority (NRTA) operates a bus service known as The Wave. This year, everyone rides for FREE all summer! The Wave operates 9 routes across the island, all running frequently and on time. From town, you have easy access to everywhere you want to go, from Surfside Beach and Sconset, to Madaket and Jetties. On the Wave you can get anywhere you need to go without having to worry about bringing the car on the boat, renting a car, or parking during the peak of summer. In under 2 hours, you can explore Sconset, pick up a sandwich from Claudettes, and be back in town for the rest of the afternoon. This bus option is amazing for day trippers or longer.
Visit the NRTA website to download the route map and for more information.
2. Rental Cars
Rental cars are made easy on the island with several businesses offering a wide variety of vehicles to choose from. You can rent a car with a beach sticker to drive on to Nobadeer, 40th Pole, or out to Great Point.
