Join us for Nantucket’s cherished Fourth of July celebrations, which offer a blend of family fun and spirited patriotism. From lively traditions on Main Street to beach festivities and a spectacular fireworks finale, there’s something for everyone to enjoy! Read on for a complete guide to the day's festivities.

MAIN STREET

8:30 AM to 12:30 PM: Food trucks and Farmer’s Market

  • Start the morning right with fresh island produce and local Food Trucks at the weekly Farmer’s Market. It’s the perfect way to start your Independence Day with community, great food, and island-grown goods.

9:00 AM: Annual reading of the Declaration of Independence

  • Head over to the Unitarian Universalist Church at 11 Orange Street for the 26th annual public reading of America’s founding documents. This cherished local tradition brings the community together and honors our nation’s roots.

10:00 am to 12:30 pm: DJ Scott Capizzo

  • DJ Scott Capizzo will be performing a live set on Main Street! Stop by to enjoy the music!

10:30 AM: Annual 4th of July water competition

  • Join in the fun of a beloved island tradition: the fire department vs. the citizens of Nantucket battling in a water fight on Main Street! Bring out your swimsuits and water guns (or a change of clothes) and get prepared to be soaked!

CHILDREN'S BEACH

10:00 AM: Singing of the national anthem

  • What better way to start the 4th of July off with the singing of our national anthem! P.J. Moody will lead everybody in the singing of “Star Spangled Banner” and other patriotic songs from the band stage at Children's Beach.

10:30 AM to Noon: Lawn games and face painting

  • Perfect for the entire family, enjoy classic lawn games and festive face painting by the beach!

10:30 AM to 11 AM: Nanpuppets Puppet Show

  • Bring the kids for a classic yet entertaining Nanpuppets show at the bandstand.

11:55 AM: Bike Parade

  • One of the island’s many heartwarming events, the annual Children’s Beach Bike Parade is a must-see. Watch as the kids decorate their bikes in red, white, and blue and peddle in a short but sweet loop around Children’s Beach.

12:00 PM to 12:30 PM: P.J. Moody

  • P.J. Moody will retake the stage at the bandstand with more live music!

JETTIES BEACH

9:00 PM: Fireworks

  • Finish your Fourth of July celebrations with a breathtaking 25-minute fireworks display at Steps and Jetties Beach. Launched from an offshore barge, this fireworks show consistently amazes and is a cherished island tradition to end off 4th of July weekend festivities!
