The East Brick, one of the most important and historic homes on Nantucket is one of the " Three Bricks" built between 1837-1840 by Joseph Starbuck, a wealthy whaling merchant, for his youngest son William. This stately five-bayed, classical, brick, is a true Nantucket landmark with strepped parapet end walls. The "Bricks" are regarded as transitional Federal-Greek Revival architecture. This is a piece of Nnatucket history.

Formal entrance, double parlor with two custom- made chandeliers from Charles Winston & CO., the north parlor has custom-made two tone yellow striped wallpaper; library with sensational spruce-colored wallpaper and beautiful black marble fireplace, which is one of several original to the house; dining room with magnificent sepia mural panels of Nantucket harbor and another original black marble fireplace; simple old fashioned kitchen, casual dining and family room, which opens to large brick patio and lovely tiered garden area.
