2023 Restaurant Picks

07/26/2023

There are so many things we love Nantucket for - the miles of beaches and nature trails, our historic Main Street, locally-owned beloved shops, the breathtaking sunsets in Madaket. But every year as summer approaches, our team looks forward to the return of their favorite restaurants. We've rounded up our favorite picks of the season (some old, some new) to help you enjoy the best of Nantucket's bustling culinary scene.

Edward:

After GPP Principal Edward is off the Sankaty green, his go-to dish from the Sea Grille (one of his favorite spots) is the yellowtail sole.

Tracy:

Tracy has discovered the soft serve chocolate and vanilla swirl from Surfside, which is Broad Street’s newest restaurant this summer. You can never go wrong with this classic sweet treat on any day.

Ally:

Ally loves a summer evening in Sconset at the Chanticleer (who doesn’t?). She always starts with their tuna tartar - yellowfin tuna served on toasted garlic naan bread and scallion pancakes. This dish is perfect as an appetizer or even its own meal.

Bobby:

Arguably GPP’s biggest island restaurant connoisseur, Bobby has a list of top picks for you and we trust his taste. At the top of his list is the pork chop at Dune and NY strip from Pi Pizza. The lobster roll at Cru and meatballs from Ventuno are also well-loved dishes of his. Yes, we call him ‘Boujee Bobby’ for a reason.

When you're at Cru, Nicole's order is local oysters paired with a cold glass of champagne. Simple, delicious, and set right on the water.

Erika:

Erika has discovered a gem on the Nautilus menu and it’s the blue crab fried rice. Do we need to say more?

Stu also agrees, but his favorite order is the duck. This dish must be placed at the beginning of your meal and is perfect for family-style dining.

Laura:

A long-time Languedoc lover, Laura has the ultimate summer meal order. To start, the half chopped salad followed by the burger and garlic fries (their specialty!). Can't forget to pair it with a chilled glass of rosé.

And for dessert, the small town girl ice cream sundae, as recommended by Sconset agent Katie.

Sam:

Sam is known throughout the office to always have a delicious lunch. Her favorite this summer? The Thai noodle salad from the Beet, one of her favorite vegetarian go-to spots.

Bill:

When it comes to food on the beach or after the beach, GPP Principal Bill has the best picks for you. If you find yourself at Cisco, Nantucket Beach Dogs are a must. On the way home, stop by the 167 Raw food truck for some fresh ceviche and key lime pie to bring home. When you’re looking for a casual meal on the beach, he recommends the fried chicken sandwich from Sandbar at Jetties Beach.

Ethan:

Without a doubt, Ethan's go-to order at The Rose and Crown is the smokehouse burger with barbeque sauce and bacon, always with a side of onion rings. Ethan's parents are longtime owners of the Crown, so it’s safe to say he knows the menu!

Amber:

Amber dined at the "Pop Up" of Grill 23 at The White Elephant and had rave reviews! She enjoyed the swordfish Nicoise followed by their renowned coconut cake. Fingers crossed they return for Summer 2024.

Barbara:

So far this summer, Barbara loves the head-on prawns in a pan mee marinade from Or, The Whale. Yum!
